In response to queries about the status of data loss from many southern hemisphere stations, the Chief of the NCEI Solar & Terrestrial Physics Section, Dr. Laurel Rachmeler, notified us that NCEI has decided to terminate their real-time ingest and processing of ionosonde data as of this June (see Notice of Cessation). They have also decided that they will not attempt to fix any data delivery problems, such as the current loss of southern hemisphere data, going forward.
Unless another source is found for the data used to generate estimates of the effective sunspot number (SSNe) we will be dropping all products on this website related to SSNe as of June 2024, sooner if the amount of data available drops to the point where the SSNe estimates become unreliable.
